While we were there we spent a day in the park, having lunch at Lake Minnewanka,
Today we moved to a resort in the small town of Banff. The town reminds me a bit of Jackson Hole, WY. The resort is the Hidden Ridge Resort, and they've been very accomodating, even letting us check in at 11:30 when normal check in wasn't till 4! We have a 2 bedroom + loft "room", with a bonus rec room. It's four floors, with a kitchen, dining room, living room as well as the rec room. We have spread ourselves out as much as we can! Six of us, on four different floors, watching five different TV's!! I think we needed the space, and the down time. I was afraid the kids would gripe a bit about all the stairs, but they've been running up and down ever since we arrived. I just hope they don't expect this type of lodging every four weeks!Banff National Park (which the town is within), is really spectacular! The Rockies surround us, and the views are amazing. Mario took quite a few photos, so I'll put a few up as soon as I can get them off his camera. Well worth a trip if you haven't been!
Sounds like heaven. Maybe every two months! Looking forward to seeing all the pictures. How long are you here and what is your next destination? Looking forward to reading all about it.
ReplyDeleteWe were in the Banff/Jasper National Parks for about 2 weeks (we're still pretty close). Next is on to Edmonton. I've updated this blog with some photos, and added a new blog too!
DeleteSo has Mario been using that new lens he got? I'd be curious on how well that has been performing for him. Some of the shots he shared remind me of Glacier National Park. Ready to go back, but not ready to walk cliffs like a mountain goat!!!
ReplyDeleteTake it all in folks, you won't see those views here in PA.
Yes, we were using it yesterday for the deer, and also at the Glacier. It's really good, but now he wants an 18-270, so he won't need to swap out! We were discussing whether Glacier was better than Banff, but I think Banff won out, just for it's size. The park connects to Jasper National Park, and is about 250 miles from north to south, and about 60 miles across. I updated this one with some photos, and added a new blog too.
